Juniors will take the SAT exam on March 22, 2023, in both gyms, and they will anxiously await the results of the high-stakes test. 

As every junior will have mixed feelings about the SAT, nerves are a widespread feeling, “I feel nervous and scared about it. I am dreading to take it”, stated Ann Binu, ‘24, but some are not nervous at all, “I’m not as nervous as I once was, I feel more prepared than before.” said Nolan Armstrong, ‘24. 

Juniors are more than ready for the SAT to be a part of their past. “- I am ready for it to be over with”, stated Binu. “It will be like a weight lifted off my shoulders”, said Armstrong. 

When it comes to SAT prep, students often look for the SAT prep books on Amazon or go in blind. However, teachers have been preparing them for the big test, “Mr. Mays does Khan Academy”, stated Alex Bauer, ‘24, “My English teacher has gone over some possible SAT questions”, said Gaige Sisney, ‘24. 

Those that prepare by themselves sometimes work better.

 Khan Academy being the most common independent study. 

Students at MV take the PSAT every year to better prepare themselves for the SAT. Some students reflected, “I feel like I’ve learned more since the PSAT”, said Bauer, “I’ve practiced twice as much since then and know how to use my time better”, stated Armstrong. 

After the test, juniors have their plans made, mainly with a pillow and a blanket, “I plan on taking a long nap and maybe watch a movie”, said Binu, Some have other ideas, “Going to Denny’s and devouring a very large meal”, stated Armstrong.
