The Rockin Rams Dance team tryout will take place tonight at 7:45 p.m., in the Auxiliary Gym.


Get a purple pass from the Student Services Office if you are interested in visiting with any of the following representatives: Today at 2 p.m. – Millikin University, tomorrow at 1 p.m. – Quincy University, and tomorrow at 2 p.m. – Alma College.


The Chess Team will practice Wednesday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in room F110. If interested, please show up or contact Mr. England in room 204B.


Are you interested in a job in radio or TV?  WMIX will be at the next AV Club meeting Wednesday at 3:30 and they have job opportunities for students.  Come by room C114 Wednesday at 3:30 to find out more.


Are you interested in Career Exploration? The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America is having a Taco Nacho Social this Thursday after school in C104 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Attend the informational meeting if you are interested in learning more. We hope to see you there!


This Thursday evening at 6:15 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., FBLA will be rolling out the dice & playing BUNCO after a short member meeting. Come join in on the fun & find out what FBLA is all about. Dues will be accepted at the meeting. Deadline for dues is Sept. 30th.


Attention FFA members: The Mt. Vernon High School FFA will host the Section 21 FFA Leadership Training School on Thursday, Sept. 19. Please sign up in the Agriculture room if you plan to attend this Leadership Training Event.


Attention National Honor Society members. There will be a mandatory meeting after school on Thursday, September 26 in C208. All members must attend to learn about service sheets and upcoming events.

The Homecoming Prize raffle using pride point tickets will be held during all three lunches tomorrow through Thursday. Raffle tickets will enter students into a drawing to win 1 of 3 prizes: 2 students will each win a pair of Homecoming tickets and 1 student will win a RAM VIP Pass to the Homecoming Game! (the RAM VIP Pass includes: free entry into the homecoming football game, concession money at the game, the winner and 2 guests will get to sit on a comfy couch during the game, and will also win a pair of homecoming tickets!).  Each raffle ticket will cost 5 pride points, with unlimited entries! Winners to be announced September 23. Start earning those pride points MVTHS!


Want to see one of the best shows to ever hit the big stage?  The Drama Club is going to see WICKED December 15.  Permission slips with all the details are available outside the choir room door, from Mrs. Mezo (after school in the theater) & on the Drama Club Facebook page.  Permission slips & payment are due tomorrow by the end of C Lunch.


Do you like to jump scare people? Do you like to dress in disturbing make-up and costumes? The Mt. Vernon Elks are looking for people to dress up and work on this year’s haunted trail through Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park at Rend Lake on October 12. Please see Mr. Edwards in B101 for more information. You can get service hours for helping.


Congratulations to the Mt. Vernon FFA Tractor Driving team which placed third at the Section 21 FFA Competition at Nashville High School on Thursday. Team members were Hayden Pilson – 5th place individual and Charley Allen – 7th place individual.


Congratulations to the Mt. Vernon FFA State Horse Judging team which placed third in Illinois in the Reasons division of State Horse Judging. Congratulations to Katie Huff who placed first place in State. Other team members were Lindsey Lehman – 11th place, Macie Higginson, and Tori Shaw.


Congratulations to the Mt. Vernon FFA State Non-Reasons Horse Evaluation team which placed 21st in State at Black Hawk East College. Team members were Jade Parmelee, Lillian Morgan, Wyatt Erlinger, and Brianna Day.
