How to start seeing the sun
September 13, 2019
This world is overflowing with negative people. It may not be what people want to hear, but it rings truer than ever in this new generation. Negative people surround us everyday, and with easier forms of communication throughout the world, it is much easier to come across people who want to tear others down. In this world full of negative emotions, how does one even attempt to keep a grin etched across their face? It may be hard to stay positive and not be swayed by negative thoughts, but it is more important now than ever before.
The news is littered with terrible events that happen everyday: shootings, disappearances, discrimination, bullying, and many more unnameable acts of evil. This is why happiness is so important. The world is full of heinous acts, so it is on our shoulders to find the sun.
We need to find the light, even when darkness completely surrounds us. We need to be positive and optimistic people, not just for our sake, but for the ones that we care about. We should overpower negative emotions with ones of pure joy, unrelenting optimism, and childlike happiness.
One way to rid the negative thoughts from someone’s mind is to surround oneself with positive people. If there are negative people in someone’s life, it would be greatly beneficial if you cut that negative person out of one’s life. Of course, everyone experiences negative emotions, so don’t cut everyone who has said something negative out of your life. Carefully decide who has constantly used negative language and has negatively affected your emotions almost every day, and cut connections with them.
Smiling is one of the most powerful activities a person is capable of performing. We are able to manipulate emotions with just a slight grin, and that is a powerful thought. We should positively exploit this as much as we can. Smiling is contagious, so if we all try to smile, those around us will feel less pain and more joy in their lives.
Even though I think joy is the most important emotion to feel and to spread to others, it is not the only beneficial emotion. Emotions such as sadness, fear, anger, and many others can positively affect our lives as well. It is okay to experience emotions, necessary, even. Emotions are what make us human, and we should use these emotions to spread positivity, not to inflict terrible misfortune on others.
“The world is full of monsters with friendly faces.” This quote by Heather Brewer rings truer than ever in this new generation, but we have the power to save these “monsters” with our own emotions. We have the power to spread joy. We have the power to find the bright side. We have the power to share positive emotions with others. We have the power to smile, so use it for the right reasons MV.
