Intro to Boys Basketball Season
December 1, 2022
Over the past years excitement looms large , MV has seen several outstanding basketball seasons. With several seniors departing, we are excited to see what this year’s team has in store for MV.
Our newest team had a lot to say about the upcoming season.
Harry Rudolph, ‘24, stated “ We’re looking good this season. We have some speed.”
Navontae Nesbit ‘24 is also a part of the MV basketball team. During our football season this year, Nesbit had to finish the season early due to an injury, but he is back for the basketball season.
Nesbit stated, “I’m glad to be back. I’m super excited for this season.”
Mr. Tim Holloway, Rams Head Basketball Coach, not only coaches basketball, he also teaches Drivers Ed in room D109.
“We lost 7 seniors from last year’s team. NJ Benson, DaShaunsae King, Cooper Hemby, Jackson Swan, Brock Holloway, Calan Kujawa and Landon Simpson, they were responsible for most of our scoring, rebounding and minutes.”
Holloway added, “We have one returning starter, Colin McClure ‘23. The only other player with significant varsity minutes is Navontae Nesbit Jr, ‘24. We will rely on McClure and Nesbit for leadership with our inexperienced group. Although we lack varsity experience, we like our team and expect to be competitive once we adjust to varsity competition. “
Holloway said he likes the energy in the group, and loves the support MV has always given; not only him, but the boys as well.
A few different starters on the MV team said that they are excited to play our rivals, considering it is one of the biggest games of the season.
“I’m looking forward to our home game against Centralia, it’s going to be a fun one.” stated, Cole Timmons, ‘24
MV has proven to play hard against difficult teams. It shows our drive and resilience; furthermore it shows how MV always supports their clubs and athletes.
Nesbit, ‘24 said, “I feel like we will go very far in this season, and that we have a lot of depth.”
Harry Rudolph ‘24 stated, “ I have played with the majority of this team since I was little, so we have a great team bond.”
MV has seen some of their athletes push harder than they ever have: they want to win it. It is very clear that they will be able to accomplish this by continuing to push.
MV can’t wait to see you at the games this season!
