On September 22, the Rams hosted Bonne Terre Missouri’s own North County Raiders, defeating them 28-14.
This was also the 11th annual Pinkout game, sponsored by FBLA, and the game was seen as a huge success.
“This year saw an increase in business & jersey sponsorships. The key to the overall success of this special game night lies in our FBLA members seeking out local business support & selling the specially designed shirts to the fans,” described FBLA Advisor, Ms. Julie Hayes.
The Rams started slow, with zero points being scored in either the first or the second quarter, thankful only falling behind by one touchdown going into the half.
However, the Rams’ offense finally clicked in the third quarter, starting behind a Navontae Nesbit 53-yard touchdown score to tie the game.
“It felt great! That really brought some excitement to the sideline. In the first half, we were just flat, there wasn’t much energy but that drive really lit everybody up and it was on from there,” described Navontae Nesbit, ‘24.
After this score, the Rams put it into the next gear, going into the fourth quarter in a tie game, and ending it on a 28-7 run.
The Rams’ offense was led by two key factors, Navontae Nesbit and Cole Timmons.
Nesbit rushed for 235 yards on 25 carries, scoring three touchdowns in the process.
“It feels good for all of my coaches to believe in my ability and give me the ball. But it doesn’t really affect me, but my goal is a championship and I won’t be satisfied until then,”
Cole Timmons also did what he’s been best at this year, hauling in the long passes for a big gain, recording one reception for 24 yards.
Timmons’ 24-yard reception was one of only three passing attempts made by the MV offense, something many fans are used to, but confused about why we don’t go to the air more often.
We are thankful for the amazing Pinkout game that came to be, with a win added to the Rams books, they have now moved on to 3-2 on the year.
¨Of course, we look forward to the year that this game is not necessary because a cure has been found. Until then, FBLA will continue to host the game & support the members of our community who face a cancer diagnosis,” stated Ms. Hayes.
