MV Senior Mylan Nettles ,’24 is preparing for his future at McKendree with his recent signing on February 16.
Nettles holds the record here at MV for longest kick return touchdown in school history with a 99 yard kick return against the Carbondale Terriers last season to end up winning the game.
Also Nettles had another impressive stat, he was only targeted on the defensive side of things 3 times the whole year, with not a single completion against him this season from an opposing quarterback.
Mylan has also been an All-conference player for 3 years in a row, as well as multiple Ram of the week awards throughout his career.
“It felt like home and I knew I would be able to thrive , and have a successful career academically and athletically,” said Nettles.
The Senior ended his season with 17 carries for 168 rushing yards, 6 receptions for 198 yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.
Mylan also battled some problems with his knee this season and missed 6 games because of it.
“I would sum up my football career with a phrase, “Trials and tribulations” because my first two years here were not too good, we hadn’t won a game my Freshman or Sophomore year then we bounced back and had two great seasons my Junior and Senior year,” Nettles added.
With high school coming to an end for Nettles he plans to do a master program in finance and become an accountant.
MV football this year capped off their season with a 6-4 total record and 1-3 in the conference.
MV also made it to the playoffs two years in a row with a first round exit this year and a first round exit last year.
Football is looking to reload for this upcoming season with a lot of returning Juniors, sophomores, and freshman.
“Do everything to the best of your ability and play every game like it’s your last,” Nettles ,’24 added.
