Winter Break is a long- awaited experience, and MV students did not fail to make the best out of their 2023 break.
Lucy Greathouse ‘24 remarked that her break was “great, very fun, and love filled.”
Some students made it out of Mount Vernon this break, or even the country.
Kevin Raya ‘26 stated “Over break my family and I took a trip to Mexico, and spent time trying new food and celebrating with family.”
Although Raya had a great time in a new setting, even he was excited to return to MV’s campus.“I was very excited to come back to school after break to be able to see many of my friends, and get back into a routine,” Raya stated.
It is clear the MV students spent a lot of time hanging out together over break.
Morgan Goodheart ‘24 stayed in MV and stated “My favorite memory over break was hanging out with my friends every day.”
Isabella Stanford, ‘26, stated “ I went to the beach with my friends! My favorite memory over winter break was watching the fireworks for New Year’s.”
Winter Break is also a time to catch up with family over the holiday, and MV students definitely did.
Raya stated “I spent a lot of time talking with my cousins that I got to see for the first time in eight years.”
Josh Crowder ‘27 stated “Over winter break, I went to my hometown in DuQuoin, and hung out with my brother and his friends who I haven’t seen in a long time.” Crowder also expressed “I met many new friends, and we played all of the sports that we love, even though it’s not in season.”
Demetrious Lenoir, ‘24, expressed “Over winter break, I really started to find my love for photography. This included taking photos at sports events that happened over break.”
With winter break being a little over two weeks, it is the perfect opportunity to find new lovable habits to take into the new year.
Lenoir also stated “I learned that good things take time, and that you cannot rush that. I believe I might even be able to make a living of it, and it’ll only go up from here.”
“I spent my holidays with my close family, and had a lot of fun,” stated Greathouse
Although many individuals traveled state-to-state for the holidays, many kept it cozy and close to home.
Jazin Moore ‘24 expressed “My winter break was a great one to remember for the last ride.”
With seniors graduating this year, many have expressed it is essential to spend as much time together as possible together.
Moore added “I stayed inside mostly, but it was with my amazing friend group. It was never a dull moment spending my break with them. All of the late talks and fun times are memories I’ll never forget.”
