When we left last year the Vernois news was on Volume 102. Where are they now?
What is the Vernois News?
“The Vernois News is MV’s school newspaper that updates you on everything Mount Vernon and even more,” claims Editor-In-Chief Cam Meyer, ‘25
The Vernois News is run by Student Body President and Class of 25 Vice-President, Cam Meyer, and 13 other staff members helping him along the way.
“I’m looking forward to being a mentor for younger students as I enter my senior year, as well as hoping to win a Blue Banner Award for the second time,” claims Meyer, ‘25
Having a small group for the newspaper is never an easy task, but Vernois News continues to get it done.
Vernois News Advisor Dr. VanZandt says, “We are “smallish” but mighty. All told, Vernois News boasts of around 25 members, and I’ll take 15 any day!”
“We have put out high-quality prints with even smaller groups, so have no fear, we will make sure to get our production to you. However, we are always looking for new people to join, so if you are the tiniest bit interested, choose Vernois News,” described Meyer, ‘25.
“I have enjoyed having a small staff, it’s very organized and everyone has risen to the challenge of having more responsibility,” added Social Media Manager Mckenzie Hughes, ‘25.
The Vernois News strives to improve upon each year.
“Our main focus for the year is building our new staff member’s skills and recruiting new members to take over for the class of ’25,” claimed Hughes, ‘25.
“Each year of Vernois News is unique, and I am sure this year will be no different. I am excited to see what this staff will be able to produce,” expressed VanZandt
If you have the goal to succeed and have done so every year, you have to wonder, how will they do it again this year?
“I want to stress the importance of the Vernois News online platform and quality photojournalism,” said VanZandt.
It is easy to succeed when you have an experienced Advisor at the helm.
“I am hopeful that the staff can continue to provide coverage of personalities and happiness on campus and in the community, both in print and online. We have made great strides over the last three years, and I hope to build on this work,” expressed VanZandt.
