MV’s Film Club is starting during the 2024-25 led by Mr. Dave Edwards and Mr. Jeremy Mays. What is the club about and what are the plans for the year?
Mr. Edwards Foreign Language, stated, “It’s a student organization designed to introduce students to the rich history of movies and many of the classic and iconic films of certain eras and genres.”
With the Film Club being so new they made a head start in getting people aware of and involved with events.
However, their first event is scheduled for September 19 from 5:15 to 10:30 at the Carbondale VIP Cinemas for a showing of The Matrix.
Mr. Edwards mentioned “The first was “The Matrix” (1999), but we didn’t have enough students who were able to attend.”
Currently, the club has no officers but the adults in charge are going to use senior students to help them out this year and in the coming years put together an officer team.
The Film club’s next event, High school movies, is just about to happen.
Mr. Mays Communication Arts department stated “Movie night on Tuesday, September 24. It will be centered around the theme of High School Movies”
The movies will be shown in the MV B-Wing: B101, B102, B103, and possibly another classroom if required.
Some of the movies do not have school-appropriate language and ratings in them, so there is a permission slip available in B101 and A209.
“If you would like to attend upcoming movie nights, watch the halls and social media!” stated Mr. Edwards.
