Fans are desperate for the release of Artist Playboi Carti’s newest album, I Am Music.
The fanbase of Playboi Carti is one of the biggest in the rap game right now and is continuing to get bigger.
“I have been a Carti fan for the longest, even defending Whole Lotta Red when it first dropped on Christmas Day. To see one of my favorite artists drop an album is always exciting, but when it’s someone who drops as rarely as Carti does, it’s extra special,” said Cam Meyer, ‘25.
“I became a Carti fan because I really fell in love with the sound of his beautiful voice and the way the 808s of the beat would make my body shake and the aura of his full Balenci black bodysuit and baggy jeans and he honestly just brings a lot to the table with his self-made title “opium”. He made a whole group of rappers built around his style of music and style of dressing and that is what really makes me love being a Playboi Carti fan,” stated Kamden Laskowski, ‘25.
After not dropping any music and teasing fans with fake album dates over the past three and a half years, Carti has come into 2024 by storm by dropping several singles and numerous leaks/snippets throughout the year. Playboi Carti let the world know via Instagram live where he tends to communicate with his fans, by saying, “I know ya’ll be waiting for this, and I appreciate all the love and patience. It’s time to give you what you deserve.” He then went on to say, “My new album, I Am Music, is dropping next month.”
Most fans figured this was another tease made by Carti after he has done this numerous times, but this time seems to be legit considering Carti has dropped several singles including two earlier in the year, and has now dropped another single titled “ALL RED” after dropping this he went on tour with The Weekend and performed “Timeless.”
“Though Carti is a manipulative liar at times, I believe he’s being truthful with this one as he’s teamed up with many NBA teams and other pop culture figures for the album rollout,” stated Ashton Wagner, ‘27.
This song took the social media world by storm because of Carti’s soft, unexpected tone, and fans were desperately asking Carti to release the song, so he did and now it’s already approaching one hundred million streams. The expectations are sky-high for Playboi Carti and fans desperately want new music.
“‘Timeless’ is a great example of a preluding track to an album. What Carti did on this song is what I expect a majority of I Am Music to sound like. There are also some great TikTok edits to the track,” said Laskowski.
The last time Carti dropped an album was Christmas Day of 2020. This album was titled Whole Lotta Red. This album had features from Future, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi. Carti has also been featured in several other artist’s projects including “Fein” by Travis Scott, “Type ….” by Future and Metro Boomin in their latest collab album, Carnival by Kanye West, “Field Trip” also by Kanye West, and several others.
“Carti has been teaming up with many artists, so I expect them to return the favor and collaborate on the album,” stated Wagner.
This is going to be one of the more anticipated album releases of the last decade, and fans of Playboi Carti including fans can’t wait to see this unfold.
