Some students expect high school to be really scary. Some students even expect that only the worst will happen to them. But my experience of the first day of high school was pretty different from what people told me it would be.
My first day of high school looked something like this:
I wake up and begin getting ready for my first day. I am not very nervous right now, however, I know I will be when I am leaving to get there. I eat my breakfast, and then my grandma yells, “Come on Baylee, we’re about to leave!”
I get into the car, and my grandma begins driving to the high school. I started getting more nervous, just as I had expected, so I texted my friend, Daniya, to see if she had left her house yet. As my grandma is pulling into the school parking lot, she replies with “yes,” so we wait for her to get to the school.
When she arrives, I say goodbye to my grandma, and then Daniya and I walk in together. When we get into the school, we go through the metal detectors and sit in the gym until it’s time to go to class. We sit there a while until the teacher announces that we can go to class, so Daniya and I walk to our first period.
It is now fifth period, and Sophia, Autumn, Alivia, Kori, and I are heading to the cafeteria for lunch. When we get there, we place our backpacks on our seats and stand in line to get our food. For lunch, I grab a slice of pizza, and then we walk back to our seats. So far, this day is going pretty well, much better than I had expected.
I attended all of my classes, and I am currently in my last class of the day. The bell rings, and everyone is leaving and going home. I walk to the buses and take a seat on the bus.
I’m hoping that high school is not going to be as bad as I thought it would be. So far, it’s not that bad, but we’ll see what the rest of the year holds.
