MV’s new superintendent Mr. Chad LeCone began duties in July and just completed the first quarter. How is he settling into the position of superintendent?
Mr. LeCrone stated, “One of my big goals early on … is just to build relationships with people, get to know people.”
Relationships aren’t the only thing he’s working towards.
Mr. LeCrone Stated “We always look at student achievement, academic achievement, and student outcomes. I think they are always at the forefront of what we want to do.”
Mr.LeCrone has been on the job for a couple of months, and he stated “People have been very very welcoming. The admin team and staff have been great.”
Mr. LeCrone has years of prior experience in education administration.
He mentioned that he served in Richland County in Olney for 30 years, with 10 years teaching, 10 years as assistant principal, as building principal for 5, and the last 5 he was assistant superintendent.
Why would Mr.LeCrone leave a school he’d previously served at for 30 years to come to MV?
Mr. LeCrone stated, “I would say there’s probably two to three main reasons. First of all, I did have a goal to become a superintendent. It was very appealing to me that this was a high school district with the awesome facilities that are here and the opportunities for kids.”
The administrators currently here are also getting used to the opportunity to work with a new superintendent.
Dr. Rowdy Fatheree, principal, stated “I met him seven years ago. We had superintendent-level classes together. Before him came, I always said in class he was consistent.”
Since that was seven years ago, what is Mr. LeCrone like to work with?
Dr.Fatheree said, “Now that we are working together I know him to be very fair and consistent, and he doesn’t get rattled easily, so he’s very patient.”
Mr.LeCrone is known to be taking the listening and watching approach. How are others finding this approach?
Dr. Fatheree mentioned, “I think his approach has been pretty humble because he’s very open to asking myself and the admin team about what we’ve done in the past.”
What is Mr. LeCrone planning for the school?
“We’re going to work together on some school improvement planning, and make a three-year vision of where we want to take the district curriculum-wise,” mentioned Dr. Fatheree.
Although Mr. LeCrone is new to the District, he is still aware that having his position is a privilege and an honor.
Mr. LeCrone stated, “I look forward to doing what I can to make a difference here and ensure that students have a great experience here and are well prepared for their future.”
