MV’s Lady Rams cross country team will soon close out their season on November 9. The state meet will be held in Peoria, Illinois, on November 9, marking the end of the season.
Some of the athletes believe that the season went very well.
“I think this cross country season is going very well with new members and mindsets,” stated Iylie Harris, ‘27.
Most of the athletes interviewed responded that the Peoria trip was their favorite memory that they had made during the season.
“My favorite memory that I have made this season is the Peoria trip,” said Kennedy Bax, ‘27.
“My favorite memory so far this season is riding four hours back from Peoria with just Abbie and Coach Grider,” said Harris.
While focusing on sports, schoolwork can often get put off.
“I balance cross country and school by working hard at practice, then focusing on school work when I get home,” replied Harris.
According to the athletes, the Lady Rams cross country season has gone well. However, that has a lot to do with how the athletes perform.
“I think I have done well, but there are still several goals I have to accomplish,” stated Bax.
“This is my first year of training and I have PR’d the last three meets,” said Abbie Russel, ‘27.
With a new cross country season comes many new runners joining, as well as many leaving.
“The new girls are each a great addition to our team. I was worried at the beginning, but now I’m so grateful for them,” stated Harris.
“I’m so proud of our team and can’t wait to see how much we grow in the next few years,” replied Russell.
When asked what their favorite aspect of cross country was, the athletes responded with various answers.
“My favorite part of cross country is hanging with my team after a meet,” said Bax.
“My favorite part of XC is making the best out of the trips and hard times we all share together,” replied Harris.
“Beating other people and getting new PRs,” stated Hailey Ingraham, ‘28.
“Running with my friends and watching everyone improve,” answered Russell.
As stated before, the state meet is scheduled for November 9, in Peoria, Illinois.
“Cross country is a very good sport, and you should consider joining next year,” said Daniya Musgrave, ‘28.
