In the intro to electricity class you learn lots of skills which include wiring and soldering wire.
Gage Raney,‘27, said “I have learned to wire together switches in this class.”
Lucas Ohley, ‘27, stated “ In this class I have learned a lot about electricity and how it works, and I have also learned a lot about wiring.”
Ohley added, “ The circuit boxes and circuits have been my favorite part of this class this year.”
This is the first year that this class has been taught by Mr Foster with this being his first year he has had to work with the students to get through the semester one step at a time.
Mr. Dustin Foster, CTE department, stated “This class is going very well, Most of the students are willing to learn with me and they take safety seriously.”
When teaching a class that you have never taught before you have to learn how to teach that class as you go through it.
Mr Foster stated “I’m learning every day in this class. I don’t have a background as an electrician but I can usually figure most things out because I have a technical background.”
“This class is a great class to take, adding that it is challenging but it is very hands-on and fun. It can be a great way to see if you are interested in being an electrician or working with electricity when you are older,” Raney stated.
Mr Foster added, “Students in my class have to work hard everyday. But if they are willing, it is a fun class that 90 percent hands on. At the end of the semester students should be able to take on the most basic wiring at a residential level. Also, it serves as an entry point for those who may want to consider a career as an electrician.”
