Fellowship of Christian Athletes continues through the year, hosting events like “See You at the Pole” on September 25th. On Hunt field at Mount Vernon Township high school.
FCA is a group or organization where Christian students can meet and help to spread the word of God in the school. They also host many events throughout the school year.
Mr. Britt Fullerton, FCA Representative for Jefferson County Stated “ Over the summer we hosted our very first FCA Power (Multi Sport) Camp on the MVTHS Campus. This event was free to any registering incoming 5th- 9th graders. Campers got to learn more about their sports of interest, but also got to learn more about Jesus. Camp sessions were led by several local coaches, including some from MVTHS as well as multiple MVTHS FCA Student Leaders. We plan to host this again in the summer of 25.”
FCA Impacts many students’ lives on campus.
Elias Mullinax, ‘25, stated “ FCA has helped me grow and mature as a Christian and a person, It has also helped me develop better leadership qualities.”
Taytum Taylor, ‘26, said “ FCA has helped me find the community in the school that I enjoy the most! It also helped me find church in a school scenario.”.
Fullerton added that it doesn’t take anything to be in FCA. All students have to do is just show up to the meeting in room B112 every Wednesday at 7:30 am where they will have a speaker and usually breakfast.
On September 25th FCA hosted “See You at the Pole” which is an event where students from the campus gather at the flagpole to Pray and learn more about God.
Fullerton stated, “ Every year we use a similar set up for (See You at the Pole). We always create a space where students are encouraged to engage in prayer in a public setting. Just so happens that it takes place around a flagpole on the football field. The only difference between this year and last year was that we finally got to host it outside around the flagpole. Years prior it had been in the turf room because of the rain.”
FCA strives to create activities that will better the community and MV.
“We will be having lots of community service projects coming up and we will be hosting Fields of faith in April,” stated Mullinax
Taylor added, “ Come to FCA to grow with God and to find your Purpose, Everyone is welcome!”
