If you are a student at MV or even a resident of Mount Vernon, you have probably heard the title “Coach Mings” before.
Coach Dan Mings coached his fist time in Mount Vernon in 2000-2010 then came back and coached 2022-2025.
Coach Mings said he has coached at multiple high school including Mount Vernon, Fairfield, Edwards County, and Johnson City.
Coach Mings also played football at Eldorado High school, going on to play for Greenville College.
“Football has changed my life in every possible way,” stated Coach Mings
Coaching a high school football team comes with many challenges and difficulties.
“The challenge is always developing the team,a lot goes into doing that. Forming relationships, athletic development, motivation, and learning players strengths and weaknesses are all key factors,.” Said Coach Mings
Coach Mings added “ I think my longevity in the profession has been my biggest accomplishment.”
Coach Mings also has one son named Brendan Mings and two daughters named Bailey and Ashley who will continue on the Ming’s Heritage.
“A coach is all I’ve ever wanted to be. It is like a calling or a vocation.” Stated Coach Mings.
