Hunting is something that I have always had a passion for even when I was a little kid. It started off as something that I would do with my dad to spend quality time with him. As I grew older I started to enjoy going hunting by myself. I loved how peaceful the wilderness was and the thrill of seeing a deer while you are hunting knowing that you may have the opportunity to claim a trophy buck and score pounds of meat.
Hunting is something that takes lots of time to prepare for. When I am planning on going hunting, I start by washing all my camo clothes with a scent free detergent. Then I prepare my weapon shooting it to make sure the scope is on point so I know I won’t miss my target. Then I get all my stuff together, get in my car, and go hunting. Usually the best time to go is in the early morning before the sun rises on in the late afternoon just before the sun sets.
There are different kinds of hunting which include bow hunting, gun hunting, for deer, turkey, and lots more. My favorite things to hunt are White Tail deer because of the food they provide. I also like to bow hunt because it is easier to go out with your bow, and it takes less time to prepare.
A few years ago my dad bought me a Tenpoint crossbow for Christmas. I love that crossbow because it makes hunting so much easier maximizing the chances of me killing a deer and enhancing the range that I can shoot from. Another kind of bow that you can use while hunting is a compound bow. Before I got my crossbow, I would go hunting with my dad and use his compound bow that he had purchased when I was younger.
My dad taught me how to hunt, taking me out to the deer stand whenever he could to teach me how to use this life skill to the best of my ability. My dad and his twin brother have always hunted since a young age which is likely why they like that I have picked up the like for hunting so much
The best part of going hunting is when you finally shoot that deer you’ve been trying to shoot for weeks or even years. Then you load the deer up into your truck and head to the butcher in Wayne City, where you will leave the deer for processing and have it mounted as a trophy if it is big enough.
Another aspect of hunting I love is setting out trail cameras and checking them. You never know what you’re going to find on your trail camera when checking it. I have two trail cameras set out and I love to go retrieve the SD card and check the pictures it takes. These motion-activated photos sometimes have doe’s on it which are female deer or it could have small bucks, But the best feeling ever is when I check the pictures and there is a huge buck on the camera, which gives me confidence to go wait for him to come along so I can shoot him.
Even if I do not kill a deer or turkey, I still love to go hunting for the experience. Hunting has taught me alot of life skills and I plan on teaching my kid to hunt, like my dad taught me.
