Over October, Lady Rams Volleyball will begin to close out the challenging 2024 season.
As the season wraps up the team reflects on the year as a whole, thinking about the memories made with the 2024 Team.
“I definitely would say a favorite game/moment from the season would be the Herrin game because no one expected us to win,” said Kamaree Pollard Team Captain, ‘25.
This year has been a long and tiring season with lots of difficult games, motivation played a huge role in the success of the games.
“I stay motivated by getting the next point, and trying my best to get a kill,” stated Allie Sweeten, ‘26.
Over the season practicing for challenging games is beneficial, the team works hard during practices to prepare for the next game they will face.
“It depends on how we play before, but during practices, we usually work on ball control, and serve receive we work on a lot. We work on specifics on offense and defense, a lot depends on how they did in their previous game,” stated Coach Madison Crews.
Coach Crews and the team have found practice helpful, especially in their most recent games.
“We work on skills that will help us in upcoming games, and skills that we may have lacked in previous games. We work a lot on communication to work better as a team,” said Macie Markus, ‘25.
The team’s hard work has paid off, winning important games like beating Centralia on Senior Night.
“I think we started the season not as strong as we wanted, but we played hard, and worked well as a team. Right now we are playing a lot better than we have been, winning big games,” said Pollard.
Looking forward, to the Lady Rams having their first regional game next week against the Marion Wildcats, Coach Crews is hopeful about the tough game ahead.
“We’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but after the game against Herrin, the rest of the season has a lot of potential,” said Coach Crews.
Throughout the season, even though their record is not the best, Ram Nation has shown up in support of these ladies.
“I just want to support everybody, and every sport, especially since I’m one of the Kage Leaders,” added Keaton Plummer, Kage Leader, ‘25.
It is incredible to watch the school rally behind these ladies sharing their favorite moments from the season.
My favorite game was the Mount Carmel game at home, it was the most entertaining game by far,” stated Plummer.
Overall the Lady Rams might not have had a “winning” season, but with lots of ups and downs, Regionals are looking very promising for this talented team.
