Ms. Pamela Gregory has leaped to teach at the high school level from District 80.
Ms. Gregory serves in the Special Education Department in Room C216. She has many plans for this upcoming school year.
“I hope to continue making positive connections with students, teachers, and administration,” stated Ms. Gregory.
Most of the time, moving from grade school to high school can be tough, but that doesn’t always mean it is bad.
“The transition from grade school to high school has been vastly different, but it has been a good different,” described Ms. Gregory.
In grade school, Ms. Gregory made many positive connections, whether at Casey, J.L. Buford, or The Primary Center and now she has the opportunity to reconnect with her former students.
“Reconnecting with all of my students from Casey has been so rewarding. It makes me very proud to see the amazing young adults my students have become,” said Ms. Gregory.
Changing one’s workplace scenery is always a big decision and a risk, but Ms. Gregory knew this was the right decision for her.
“I have been lucky enough to be a big fan of the high school in all of my years of education, and now I get to be a part of the Ram Family,” stated Ms. Gregory.
Coming to a school as large as Mount Vernon, there’s a myriad of events and opportunities to look forward to.
“I am looking forward to seeing more football games, pep rallies, and basketball games. I love this new chapter and I am excited for this new beginning,” said Ms. Gregory.
After many years of experience, there are parts that teachers get to do repeatedly each year, and it always remains the same.
“My favorite part of teaching has always been making sure my students know I see them and making sure that they know I care about them and their future,” described Ms. Gregory.
On the flip side, there are some moments that educators won’t be able to relive again, but it was very special in the moment.
“One of my favorite moments in my teaching career has been seeing my son, Cam, have real connections and friendships with my former students. It gives me so much joy to see him laugh and work with students I had in my class each day,” stated Ms. Gregory.
