Lady Rams Tennis Sectionals occurred on Friday, October 18.
Chloe Adams and Clover Tinsley of the Lady Rams fell in three sets to the Centralia Annies, placing second overall.
“This was my first time going to Sectionals, and even though we didn’t make it to State, me and Clover played doubles really well together. I’m proud of us,” described Chloe Adams, ‘25.
“Sectionals went really well for Chloe and me. We were originally our team’s #3 doubles team. We won our first match 6-2/6-4. The second match against Centralia was a difficult one because we were playing their original #1 doubles team. We won the first set 6-4 and were playing probably the best we had ever played. We ended up losing that match playing through the 3rd set,” stated Clover Tinsley, ‘26.
Though this duo didn’t make it to State, many memories were made and they both tried their hardest.
“Not making it to State was upsetting, seeing as we only lost by a set, but I played really hard, and I wouldn’t change anything,” said Adams.
“It would have felt great to beat those Centralia girls regardless of the reward after. They were really rude and playing down from their original rank. We were upset but overall kept our heads up because we know we played our hardest,” stated Tinsley.
Tinsley, just being a junior, has time to get even better as she looks forward to her senior year season.
“My plans for next season are just to continue to practice all the time and hopefully advance further in sectionals next year,” described Tinsley.
As for Adams who will graduate in May, she has many memories to look back on in her final year of Lady Rams tennis.
“This was my first year playing varsity tennis. I played a lot more this year than I had before. All of the tennis girls were super supportive and so funny, which made it such a memorable experience. It was a great note to end on,” said Adams.
As well as leaving with new memories, Adams gained new discipline.
“This year, I learned that in order to play better, you have to stop holding yourself to a perfect standard and just play. At the end of the day, you can’t change how you played, so don’t beat yourself up over every little thing and miss out,” described Adams.
We at the Vernois News Sports Department wish Adams and Tinsley luck in their future endeavors and congratulate them in their Sectionals run!
