The 2024-2025 Rams basketball season is about under way as the Rams head to Triad, on November 27th and 30th for the “Stovetop Stuffing Classic” that the Rams won last season.
They will open the tourney against the Granite City Warriors at 4:30; they will follow that by playing two games on Saturday, the first being the Triad Knights then the Collinsville Kahoks to finish off the tourney.
The Rams come into this season off of a great ‘23-’24 season after winning the 48th regional title in the program and making it to the sectional title game.
Many key players graduated last season which meant this year’s team was gonna have a new look.
“We lost some outstanding seniors last year; those players will be difficult to replace, but we like our guys that we have for this season,” stated head coach Tim Holloway.
With a new season ahead of us; this means new goals for the players and the program.
“Some goals I have for myself is to be the best at my role and position that I can be for the team and for the team to have fun and enjoy every moment of it,” said senior Brogan Holloway.
“Getting further than we did last year in the playoffs and improving on my offensive skills,” exclaimed ‘25 Marlin Price.
When having goals for the program they usually match the standard that has been set over the years; especially within a program that has such a rich history of winning.
“We don’t set goals as in numbers, but our system hasn’t changed much over the years for our programs,” said Coach Holloway.
“We want to represent our school and community positively, use the game to better ourselves, and stay committed to our core values and standards,” continued Holloway.
For the Rams the season really starts in the offseason with intense workouts and open gyms; getting the players ready for the upcoming season.
“They spent the off-season attacking their weaknesses while also continually working on their strengths. Our players have improved in areas they needed to so they can compete at the varsity level against a strong schedule,” stated Coach Holloway.
“We believe we have a team made up of players with different skill sets that complement each other. The sum has the potential to be better than the parts with this group. We have several guys with some varsity experience, but there will be quite a few players making the jump. That makes this group the type of team that has the potential to improve significantly from start to finish.,” continued Holloway.
MV Rams basketball is always fun to watch, especially the level of competition that is on the schedule every year.
“We want to be playing our best basketball in late January, February, and hopefully into March,” exclaimed Coach Holloway.
Make sure to attend this year’s games and watch this great group of players!
