Mount Vernon is the town that most of us call home. Our beloved town has experienced many changes in the past few years, like receiving a 7 Brew and opening a Planet Fitness. Everyone has their hopes and expectations of what Mount Vernon will be like in 25 years.

As every city grows, it adds popular new restaurants, as Mount Vernon continues to grow we can expect that they will want to add new restaurants to our town too.

Blake Brown, ‘25, stated, “ Some restaurants I hope they add to Mount Vernon as we grow are Raisin Carnes, Olive Garden, and Texas Roadhouse.”

Braxted Dent, ‘25, added, “ I hope they add a Raisin Canes and a Chick-fil-A.”

Along with the additional restaurants that towns add, most towns also add new stores.

Mrs. Taryn Zapp Communication Arts, stated, “ I would like Mount Vernon to open a target within the next 25 years.”

Brown said, “ I also hope that they add a Golf Galaxy and Play It Again.”

Entertainment is a key factor for towns to keep a steadily growing population and to keep their people entertained and happy.

Dent stated, “ I want Mount Vernon to open a go-kart race track so I can race my Chase Heck and Trace Rogers.”

Brown added, “I think Mount Vernon needs to reopen the Skating Rink, add a Sky Zone, and open a putt-putt mini golf.”

As Mount Vernon grows it will have to expand into the land outside of town, making the town itself bigger.

Olivia Burns, ‘25, stated, “ I think Mount Vernon will grow a lot and within 25 years look like Marion or maybe even Fairview Heights.”

Burns added, “ I hope there are lots more forms of entertainment for families and friends to be able to enjoy and connect.”
