With the year closing in there have been many songs and albums released.
Anticipation of artists releasing while the year is ending has individuals on the edge of their seats awaiting the return of artists.
“Frank Ocean disappointed everyone by not dropping an album,” stated Gavin Gilliams, ‘27.
Frank Ocean hasn’t dropped an album in eight years.
While having some of your favorite artists not release is disappointing, what about the artists that did?
American superstar, Zach Bryan, had a new 19-track release, The Great American Bar Scene . While Bar Scene debuted at No. 17 on last week’s Billboard 200 after just its first day of release, with the album receiving an unusual Thursday release to coincide with the 4th of July holiday, it jumps to No. 2, 2 weeks after it’s release, with 137,000 units moved in its first full week of release.
Sabrina Carpenter also seems to be a rising artist in fame this year with her songs such as “Espresso.”
“Espresso” currently stands No. 4 on the Billboard 100.
There were also tons of artists that didn’t release an album.
“Playboi Carti, I was waiting for 2024 music since January and it still hasn’t dropped. I’m hoping his roll out will start soon,” explained Ashton Wagner ‘27.
Tyler the Creator released his new album, Chromakopia, October 28.
There were plenty of mixed reviews on the album; but it was still overall a great hit.
“9/10, Lyrics and story behind the song were beautiful,” stated Brandon Bolling, ‘27.
Not every individual has a taste for certain genres of music.
Among high school students one may tend to find RnB and Rap to be the most popular.
“I have a very diverse music taste,” said Jaxon Wilson, ‘27.
Both students Wagner and Bolling have agreed that Ken Carson should drop “More Chaos”
While there are artists such as Playboi Carti and Frank Ocean that haven’t dropped, Drake didn’t drop an album either.
Although he did drop “Family Matters”, “100 gigs”, “No Face”, and “Push Ups” this year, those were just singles.
Giliams says that Drake is his favorite artist because his music is relatable.
Drake is known for releasing an album in October.
Besides October, there were lots of albums released this summer.
To name a few there is Megan Mooreny’s Am I Okay?, Billie Eilish- Hit Me Hard and Soft, C, XOXO, by Camilla Cabello, and Y2K!, by Ice Spice.
There was also a comeback with Dababy featuring on D’aydrian Harding’s “Big Body”.
The song “BIG BODY” (feat. DaBaby) by D’Aydrian Harding has been played 15,236,777 times on Spotify since its release on June 21, 2024.
Rod Wave also dropped this year with his album Last Lap, released October 11.
With it only being November some artists could possibly get their album released before 2025.
Even though 2024 was a weak year for album release according to Bolling, Wagner, Gillaims, and Wilson, there is always next year.
