Christmas break ended a week later than in prior years because of an ice/snowstorm,resulting in an E-learning week.
Christmas break is a time for students and staff to unwind and spend time with their families.
Issac Greever, ‘27, stated “ I would say that my Christmas break was very restful. It was nice to take a few weeks off from sports to recover. Whereas in previous years I continued to train throughout the break.”
“This Christmas break this year felt extremely long and boring because I was stuck at home because of the ice,” said Emmalee Kroeshen, ‘25.
Christmas break is always a time for students and staff to relax and enjoy their favorite winter activities.
“My favorite part of winter break was sledding and getting to sleep in every day,” stated Logan Armstrong, ‘26.
Ms. Kara Andrews stated, “I love being at home and spending time with my kids.”
During Christmas break, there is Christmas, a time when festivities and holiday spirit are spread through the air.
Everyone celebrates Christmas differently. Some wait for Santa to arrive in the morning, and others spend it with their family and the people they love the most.
Isabella Stanford, ‘26, stated, “ I spent my Christmas at my grandma’s house with my entire family.”
Ms. Andrews stated, “ I spent my Christmas at home. My daughter’s birthday is Christmas Eve, so we celebrated for multiple days.”
Christmas presents are a very commonly known trait of Christmas. Everyone asks for different things but they all make everyone feel the same joy when they receive them.
“The best Christmas present I received this year was a pair of Adidas Samba sneakers,” stated Greever.
Kroeschen stated, “Spending time with my family and Seeing loved ones who are not around very often was the best Christmas gift I received.”
Along with Christmas winter break also contains New Year’s and New Years Eve when people get together and celebrate the new year
Armstrong stated, “ I hung out with my friends on New Year’s Eve.”
“My New Year’s resolution was to “do what brings happiness”, whether it’s for someone else or myself, all life words/decisions/actions shouldn’t be wasted on making yourself or nobody else sad.. Just always do what puts more joy into the universe,” stated Ms. Andrews.
When it came time for the break to end the weather had other ideas. A ice/snowstorm was responsible for the cancellation of school for another week. E-learning days were put into place instead.
“I enjoyed the E-Learning week, I thought it was a great way to ease back into the school year,” stated Stanford.
Ms. Andrews said, “The elearning week brought on by lots of ice and snow was unexpected but I enjoyed every day of it. It was not what we had planned, but I wasn’t sad about staying home where it was warm and cozy.”
Kroeschen added, “It was nice to have the extra week but it made it even harder to come back.”
When coming back to school from a long break it can be hard to get back into the swing of things because the routine that you have to follow is different from your preferred routine.
“It felt refreshing to get back to school, I was excited to see all my friends again,” stated Stanford.
Kroeshen added, “ It was tiring and overwhelming for me when we had to come back to school.”
