Juice WRLD released his first album in 2018, Goodbye & Good Riddance, This is where he started to gain popularity, his song “Lucid Dreams” went viral, and to this day it is one of the most streamed hip-pop songs. About a year later he would go on and release his second studio album, Death Race For Love. Then months later, on December 8, 2019, he sadly passed away at the age of 21 from a drug overdose, Juice had a seizure at Midway Airport in Chicago. Then two posthumous albums would be released, Legends Never Die and Fighting Demons. Then in 2021 his last album The Party Never Ends was teased in a small trailer, but finally, on November 29, 2024, the album was released, and his managers said that this album was supposed to make listeners feel like they were at a Juice WRLD concert.
This album’s cover looks very similar to Kanye West’s album Graduation, but it only makes sense because they were both designed by the same artist, Takashi Murakami. It was confirmed that he met up with Takashi before Juice passed and designed the album together. At first, I did not care for the cover art, but it has started to grow on me. The cover art is very vibrant, and the artwork is a mix of vivid colors and psychedelic elements. The imagery is very dreamlike and seems to blend reality and fantasy. Has Juice WLRD himself on the cover wearing a vest and is shirtless with a six-pack and his tattoos are exposed. Also has these weird colorful creatures in the background as well as smiling planets.
I really enjoyed every song on this album, but there were three that I really enjoyed and that stood out to me.
The first song that I enjoyed was the second track on the album, “Misfit.” At the beginning of the song, Juice calls himself a misfit because he doesn’t fit in. Also on this track, Juice raps about his desire to get money and women. Juice also blends in his emotional pain and his drug addiction in this song, Juice includes a lyric that says “I quit drugs, then relapse,” this explains his battle with drug addiction which would lead to his tragic demise. But from what I’ve seen online, a lot of people say this is the best song on the album.
The next song that is in my top three is the twelfth track, “Adore You.” I enjoyed this song when I first heard it when it was only a leak. This song is one of a few love songs on this album, I just like this one more than “Love Letter” and “Best Friend.” The chorus for this song includes lines “I’ve never seen a soul like yours before, but, girl, I adore you, Would die for you, your ex old news.” Juice expresses his feelings for his girl in this song, This song has a really nice chorus that’s very melodic and catchy. But, in this lyric, Juice WRLD also mentions his battle against his demons and his drug addiction.
The final song in my top three is “Empty Out Your Pockets.” I just love everything about this song, When I listen to it it makes me feel like I am floating. Now this song did not debut the same day as the actual album; it came the next day during an event in the popular game, “Fortnite,” This was the first time this song was ever heard and it was played in a mini Juice WRLD concert in the game. This is one of the songs on the album that was never leaked and nobody heard before. Juice WRLD in this song is bragging about his wealth but how he still feels empty, and about his issues with fame.
