This year’s Super Bowl was a very anticipated rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The two met just a couple of years ago in 2023 when the Chiefs were victorious defeating the Eagles 38-35.
The Eagles made some big moves during the offseason this past year, acquiring Saquon Barkley, a running back from their division rivals the New York Giants.
This was a huge trade considering Saquons’ ability at the running back level, along with the Giants being rivals with the Eagles.
This trade sent shockwaves throughout the league. With the Eagles already being one of the top competitors in the league this essentially made the Eagles the favorite to win the Super Bowl.
This proved to be true throughout the season, as Saquon went on to rush for 2,005 yards, and he nearly broke the single-season rushing yard record which is 2,105 yards held by Eric Dickerson, not to mention Saquon sat out the last game of the year to get ready for the playoffs.
The Eagles finished with a 14-3 record and had the #2 seed in the NFC conference. In the other conference, the AFC, the Chiefs ruled all year and finished with a 15-2 record and got the #1 seed in the AFC, so when the two were in the Super Bowl again it wasn’t much of a surprise.
The game turned out to be sort of a blowout, as the Eagles went on to defeat the Chiefs 40-22.
“I believed it would be a close game with some Chief tomfoolery sprinkled in. This outcome of the Super Bowl was not on anyone’s bingo card, especially not mine,” stated Cam Meyer, ‘25.
There were a lot of great moments throughout the game even though it wasn’t necessarily close.
“My favorite moment of the game was when Cooper DeJean intercepted Patrick Mahomes and returned it for a touchdown,” stated Meyer, ‘25.
Super Bowl Sunday never disappoints with all the traditions that go on and everyone getting together to watch the Super Bowl.
“I went to Central Christian Church and helped set up for their Super Bowl watch party, then went to my friend Trevor McClure’s house, where we ate some good food and played basketball,” stated Meyer, ‘25.
Many fans have thoughts and predictions for who might be victorious next year.
“I believe it will be the Bills going up against the Packers in next year’s Super Bowl, though I wish my Bears would go the distance,” stated Meyer, ‘25.
