“It has changed me for the better. I am physically fit, and the sport has taken me places I have never been to. The sport has helped with my ability to be able to work through problems,” described Dillon White, ’25.
As of 2025, senior Dillon White, MV Wrestling Captain, has competed in his final high school state series.
White was able to place Sixth at the State Competition for wrestling this year. He has successfully made it to state each year of his high school journey. This year, White experienced a fantastic season, even while hindered by a previous injury that could have been career altering, going 40 – 0 for the season before going to State.
White explained, “This season my record was 42 – 1.”
Due to his previous injury, White’s coaches decided it was best to pull White out of the tournament where he stood, rather than face the possibility of sending him into a critical position.
White noted, “During the actual season I was a lot better, but I don’t think I performed my best due to my injury.”
Wrestling Coach Alejandro Wajner agreed. “Dillon’s injury 100% altered his place at state. In my personal opinion, without his injury, he would have placed 1st in the tournament.”
That said, White’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches are still proud of him and where his journey has led him.
Club Coach Dominick Locricchio announced, “I want to see Dillon become successful at whatever he decides he wants to do for himself. All that matters to me is him being happy, having a passion, and being a leader.”
Dillon has been an excellent leader, not only for the sport of wrestling, but for MV. He helped practice and train everyone on the team, myself included.
Jack Clark, ‘27 responded, “ I plan to continue in Dillon’s footsteps and I will try my best to mimic his success. I believe that Dillon was an awesome inspiration for new wrestlers.”
Gavin Pedigo, ‘26 added, “He was here, he always gave people someone to look up to. Not just the team, but he gave the school a little bit more hope. Losing Dillon is like losing a pair of your lucky underwear.”
Not only do these students look up to them, but Dillon also has high expectations from these members.
White said, “I have big expectations for Gavin Pedigo and Jack Clark to continue progressing the team as we have for the last two years after my graduation.”
White is a one-of-a-kind Ram. An excellent student, athlete, and friend, White has made a great impact on the sport of wrestling for our school and will go down in the history of our school for the records that he broke.
Coach Wajner added, “ I don’t think anyone could ever replace Dillon White. He is one of a kind.”
