On February 8, 2025, Alana Anderson, ‘26, from MV visited the IHSA offices to interview for the position of Secretary for the Illinois Association of Student Councils.
“I was a little nervous, but I felt confident and prepared,” Anderson said.
Alana’s experience on the Executive Board is what sparked her desire to take on a larger leadership role, pursuing the office of State Secretary.
Being State Secretary means that she will be responsible for taking detailed notes at the meetings, ensuring that all discussions are accurately documented, and assisting the Board in making informed decisions about the plans of IASC plans, initiatives, and strategies to enhance the Student Council experience in Illinois.
She began learning about the offices at the IASC level from Cam Meyer, ‘25, current State Public Relations Director. “Cam, Mrs. Besant, and Dr. VanZandt have guided me through the process the past few months,” Anderson states.
MV Student Council is ecstatic that Alana is running for this position at the State level.
“I am excited for Alana to have this opportunity. She will be a fantastic candidate and has demonstrated this throughout the year with her leadership position. She is always quick to volunteer and help out when needed in MV Student Council,” Chelsie Horner, ‘26, an involved member of MV Student Council says when asked about Alana’s candidacy.
Alana is equally as excited about running for IASC Secretary, her favorite part has been “attending the monthly meetings and spending time with my advisors and Student Council members.” MV Student Council can’t wait to see Alana’s outcome!
