This week, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Mr. Pierce Borah, a beloved Social Studies, teacher at MV. Known for his passion for teaching and inspiring students, he opened up about his personal life, interests, and what drives him. Let’s take a peek into the world of Mr. Borah.
Q: What is your favorite memory as a teacher?
A: “I’ve really enjoyed my experiences teaching here. It’s tough to pick just one, but seeing a student grasp a difficult concept for the first time always brings me the most joy. The moments where I can tell I’ve made a positive impact are what I cherish the most.”
Q: Who or what has been the biggest influence in your life?
A: “My dad has been the biggest influence on my life. His guidance, wisdom, and support have shaped me into who I am today. He taught me why it’sthe magic of putting in the grind, patience, and humility.”
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: “Marrying my wife. I’m incredibly thankful for our life together.”
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: “I grew up in Mount Vernon, Illinois. It’s a small town, but it is very importantmy heart.”
Q: What’s your favorite song, and why?
A: “‘10,000 Reasons’ is my favorite song. It perfectly captures my journey to the Lord and the personal transformation.”
Q: What’s your favorite book, and why?
A: “Atomic Habits is my favorite book.”
Q: What’s your go-to midnight snack?
A: “Cinnamon Toast Crunch! It is my go to when craving something sweet.”
Q: Who’s your favorite cartoon character?
A: “Peter Griffin from Family Guy. He’s hilarious.”
Q: If you could have any celebrity as your best friend, who would it be?
A: “Matthew McConaughey. He seems like such a genuine guy, and his positive attitude and approach to life are inspiring. Overall, he’s just pretty cool.”
Q: What advice do you live by?
A: “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains.”
