Have you seen all these trophies?
A new display case has been installed in the entrance to the Schewinfurth Theater, showing off trophies and accolades that the Drama Club and Speech and Acting team have earned.
“It’s something we wanted to do for a while,” explained Mrs. Raquel Bliffen, Drama Club director and Speech and Acting coach. “We were able to raise funds for it last year.”
The case is currently housing a variety of awards and Drama Club memorabilia.
“Hopefully we’ll have so many trophies that it’ll just be stuffed,” explained Mrs. Bliffen.
Students involved in Speech and Acting and Drama Club are also reacting to the new display.
“I think [the case] is pretty cool,” said Tylan Vance, ’26. “It shows our achievements.”
“It’s a great way to show our accomplishments,” shared Faye Bliffen, ’26. “I’m glad that we have something to represent us now.”
“It gives us something to look at when you walk in,” said Jewel Patterson, ’26.
Mrs. Bliffen explained that the display case’s goal is to bring recognition to the students of Speech and Acting and Drama Club.
“I think [the case] brings awareness,” stated Mrs. Bliffen.
“I find it to be interesting that the Drama Club is benefiting from Speech and Acting and winning awards,” explained Oscar Craddock, ’27.
Speech and Acting is a competition, but it is often not seen in the same light as sports and other groups at MV.
“At the old campus, [Speech and Acting] had a trophy case,” explained Mrs. Bliffen. “It shows that we are as hard working [as other MV groups].”
Mrs. Bliffen explained that she believes the new case looks great in the Schweinfurth vestibule.
