With a packed Khaos Kage cheering them on, the Rams football team hits the field every Friday night with grit and determination, showcasing big plays and the school pride that keep the fans engaged until the final whistle.
It’s amazing seeing the varsity football team hit the field and the mindset they have going into it.
“Heading into the season, I felt our team had a tremendous mindset and a great summer of preparation with great effort,” stated Head Coach Dan Mings.
Even with the ups and downs of a season, the goal remains crystal clear.
Every practice, every game is a chance to step closer to our goals as Rams.
“Goals fo our program don’t change; we want a winning season, make the playoffs, and try for a conference championship,” said Coach Mings.
We’re sure every player on the team has had moments of doubt, even the fans. But it’s in those exact moments that we lean on each other.
“There will always be challenges in every sport: being able to adapt and overcome them is what separates a good team from a great team,” said Coach Deaton.
The Rams are hitting practiced every night, whether that be on the field or in the weight room.
“Practice has been a lot more physically demanding,” said Jaxon Simmons, ‘27.
“People have been more locked in,” quotes Jashawn Staples, ‘27.
Fans and players have been eagerly waiting for this first home game to see what the Rams will bring to the field.
Currently, the Rams have a 1-3 record after the game against Collinsville, and they’re hoping to make it 2-3 after this Friday night versus Althoff.
“Well, I hope it means a lot! I absolutely love this place; this town has always supported it’s young people, and I take a lot of pride in making this community proud,” stated Coach Mings.
“Playing our first home means a lot to me personally since I get to play in front of my family, friends, and people I know,” said Wyatt Evans, ‘28.
“I think my teammates feel the same way,” said Wyatt Evans, ‘28.
The start of the Rams’ season has been good so far, and we’re getting ready to see an even more outstanding season and performance by our very own Rams.
The fans always bring the spirit, and the Rams always deliver. The fans will notice a difference in this years football, and the players are ready to show it off.
“I hope they notice how fast we are, and see the pride and effort the team plays with,” stated Coach Deaton.
“Horns up,” added Simmons.
