MV is preparing to turn pink for its Barbie-inspired “Night at the Dreamhouse” homecoming dance on October 4.
With the night rapidly approaching, the Student Council has announced the Homecoming king and queen candidates, which were voted on by MV students in a school-wide election.
“[Being on Homecoming court] is something special that I’m looking forward to and I’m looking forward to enjoying it with my classmates,” Homecoming king candidate Nolan Mast, ’26, described.
“I feel very honored and grateful for the people that decided to vote for me,” said Homecoming king candidate Alistar Clodi, ’26.
The theme for the dance is inspired by the Barbie doll product line, alongside its various television and film adaptations.
“At the summer workshop, we broke into groups and all came up with different theme ideas,” explained Student Council representative Chelsie Horner, ’26
Students are reacting to the dance’s theme for 2025 and its coinciding spirit week, also filled with Barbie flair.
“The theme is very fun and I bet the decorations will look cool at the dance,” Clodi explained.
“I think it’s a unique theme that ties into trends of the time,” said Mast.
Many aspects of the Homecoming dance stay the same year-to-year. However, this year in terms of participation may be different from previous.
“Attendance will be really high because we’ve sold a lot of tickets,” described Horner.
“As of Monday, we’ve sold 776 tickets,” stated Student Council co-advisor Dr. Jamey VanZandt.
Preparations have been well underway within Student Council for the big night.
“We have a bunch of committees and everybody’s been working together to make everything happen,” said Horner.
Horner also shared how well the process of preparing for Homecoming has been for this year in comparison to others for Student Council.
“Everybody’s been working well together and I feel we’re ahead of schedule a little,” explained Horner.
Alongside the main festivities, the annual PowderPuff Football Game will be played on Wednesday, October 1 at Ken Hunt Stadium, as well as a Pep Rally on Friday, October 3.
The ‘Night at the Dreamhouse’ dance will occur on Saturday, October 4 in the Changnon Gymnasium.
“Better see you guys there!” Horner said.
