At 6:15 in Changnon Gymnasium, MV’s Lady Rams and the Effingham Flaming Hearts tipped off to begin game 6 of the Rams basketball season.

The Hearts quickly pulled ahead, finishing the first quarter of the game with an 18 point lead and 23 points total.

The Rams fought back against the Hearts, tripling their points during the second quarter. However, the Hearts still remained ahead with 20 points over the Rams come half time.

Returning from half time, the Rams doubled their points in the third quarter with Ashlyn Conner, ‘21 racking up 8 points, Brooklyn Kelley, ‘19  scoring 3 of her 5 total points, 2 points by Nici Rudd, ‘19, and 2 points from Annibelle Harrison, ‘20  giving her 7 total points.

Despite the Rams’ efforts, Effingham remained ahead with a 24 point lead bringing the score to 31-55 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was an equal battle, with each team’s points being counteracted by those from their opponent. MV and Effingham each added 10 points under their name on the scoreboard, but the Hearts came out on top with a final score of 65 to 41.

The Lady Rams were defeated, but will continue their season and strive to succeed at the Benton Holiday Tournament on December 27, tipoff to be announced.
