The Scholar Bowl Team is hosting their annual trivia night fundraiser in the MV cafeteria in the hopes of raising money for their events and tournaments throughout the year.

The fundraiser will go to the team’s supplies and tournaments, said Mr. David Edwards, Co-Head Coach of the Scholar Bowl Team.

Mr. Edwards is excited for the event, stating “Hopefully each year word of mouth brings in more teams and people.”

Aaron Mckinnies, ‘23, said “We’re just hoping to grow from last year while providing a fun experience for family and friends.”

The season is going well so far, accounting for many team members.

Sam Buesking, ‘23, said that the team is off to a much better start than last year and already has a win under their belt.

Macie Strothman, ‘24, said “Varsity has currently won two matches, which is good for us.”

Although it resulted in a loss for the team, Monday’s tournament left Mr. Edwards encouraged that the team’s hard work is starting to pay off.

“Students are taking practice more seriously, which helps us at tournaments,” he added.

There are still many spots left on the Scholar Bowl Team.

“Anyone interested in showing off their general knowledge and anyone interested in joining late is welcome,” said Mr. Edwards.

Mrs. Megan Clodi, Co-Head Coach of the ScholarBowl team, said “Just come and give it a shot. It’s fun, and it’s not a huge time commitment.”

Buesking, ‘23, encouraged new members and those considering joining to focus on having fun.

“Trying to remember things you learned four or five years ago can be pretty taxing on the brain, so just focus on making the most out of it and doing your best.”said Buesking.

He added, “Anyone interested in stem and topics like it would really fare well.”

Mrs. Clodi said anyone with a wide ray of knowledge about literature, history, geography, and military combat would be vital to the team.

The fundraiser will be held on November 19 at the MV Cafeteria. The event starts at 7:00 pm and doors open at 6:30 pm.

The admission to play is $10. The Scholar Bowl team would love to see you there.
