The Lady Ram’s Tennis regular season came to a close on October 10 with a win over Vandalia.
The team finished this season with a record of 10-3.
Not only did the Lady Rams finish their season with a 10-3 record, but the number 1 doubles team advanced to state at sectionals on Friday, October 13.
Senior Lady Rams Tennis player Brylie Brands said that the past four years have flown by, and she is really proud of her growth and the progress she has made.
Brands advanced from a 6th place ranking on the team her freshman year, to being ranked 2 her senior year and advancing to the state championship for doubles.
Brands began playing tennis her freshman year. Due to Covid-19, it was one of the few sports MV had to offer.
The Lady Rams Tennis team held their senior night on October 10th, and won against Vandalia for the second time this season with a score of 8-1.
Clover Tinsley, ‘26, said that she believes all the girls will miss the seniors very much next season and it will not be the same without them.
Kylee Halbin, ’25, stated, “I think we have a team full of girls who like to work hard toward their goals, and that really is one of our biggest strengths.”
Halbin added that one thing the whole team can improve on is accepting criticism from their coaches.
The Lady Rams Tennis team is coached by Randi Knox, a 35 year veteran, and assisted by Jeff Parker.
Tinsley stated, “We have some really great coaches who know what they’re talking about when it comes to tennis, and they are a great help when you are trying to improve your skills.”
Tinsley added, “I think that tennis is a really encouraging environment, and that has really helped us a lot this year.”
Tinsley began playing tennis with her sister, Addi Tinsley, ‘25, because she wanted to try something new, and she just fell in love with it.
Halbin stated, “My friend, Chloe Adams, [and I] started playing tennis our sophomore year because a lot of our friends played it, and told us how fun it is.”
Halbin hopes that more people will start playing tennis because no matter what skill level they are, it is so much fun.
Brands said, “I enjoy tennis so much because I get to be outside and spend time with my friends while playing it.”
Tinsley stated, “ I would encourage anyone who wants to try something new to come out next year and try tennis, and I guarantee you will love it.”
Congratulations to the Lady Ram’s tennis team on their successful season!
