Many individuals face a lot in a year, from bad habits to memories that will last a lifetime; 2023 will be one to remember by many MV students.
Xarianna Damron ‘24 stated “ In 2023, I fell behind in motivation. This caused me to eat unhealthy food, and want to lay in bed all day. In 2024, I want to leave my laziness behind.”
In the year of 2023, the world went through a lot, as well as many students at MV.
Cory Jenkins ‘24 stated “ I was in a lengthy relationship of two years, unfortunately, things just weren’t working and we had to separate. This was one of the most difficult things I had to deal with in 2023.”
Mrs. Amanda Headen, CTE Department, expressed “ I was unsure about a lot of things in 2023, including my position here at MV.” I had many unexpected days where I had to be gone, whether this included missing things for my daughter, appointments, and sick days.”
Although Mrs. Headen was unsure about her position at MV, she stated “I will go along with life no matter what obstacles are ahead of me, I’m here for a good time, not a long time!”
Every year, there are always ups and downs in life. However, many MV students express that 2023 was one of the best years of their lives so far.
Bella Van Luvender ‘24 expressed “ Last year, I met Cassie, my new best friend. She brings out the real person in me, which I haven’t found in a long time.”
Zryan Willams ‘24 stated “I got through a lot of obstacles I was struggling with. Making playoffs for football back-to-back is an indescribable feeling that I will never forget. I even got better at the sport”
In the year 2023, Many individuals traveled outside of their comfort zone as well.
“I traveled to Detroit, Michigan for a mission trip with my church” stated Harrison Shields, ‘24.
“It felt so good to help out people who aren’t as fortunate as individuals here in MV. We built houses, painted things, and I met so many great people.”
Although 2023 was a year full of blood, sweat, and tears, individuals at MV show they have no problem with overcoming the obstacles that are sometimes put in front of them.
