With the second semester underway, Mrs. Christin Mack is settling into her new position in the MV Attendance Office after joining the staff during winter break.
Mrs. Mack started education as a basketball coach at Field Grade School, but decided to jump at the opportunity to work in the Attendance Office when the position opened up.
“It’s a better opportunity to advance my career,” Mrs. Mack explained.
“[Mrs. Mack] brings some positivity to the office,” explained assistant principal Mr. Robert Grider.
“She’s an MV grad and fits in well, she’s gonna help us out in the long run,” Mr. Grider continued.
Mrs. Mack graduated from MV back in 2007.
Prior to working at MV, Mrs. Mack had been working at the Mount Vernon Aldi as a lead store associate and as a basketball coach at Field Grade School.
“I’ve had an array of jobs,” said Mrs. Mack. “This one’s completely different.”
Mrs. Mack explained how working in the Attendance Office relies more on apathy and understanding rather than giving directions and taking orders.
Mrs. Mack said that her biggest challenge so far has been learning the new system.
“I’m fluent with technology,” Mrs. Mack explained. “I’m just not as adverse,”
Mrs. Mack described the average day in this position, stating that once the day gets underway she mainly answers phones and greets kids.
“I come in first thing and check messages,” said Mrs. Mack.
Mrs. Mack expects things to ramp up as the semester continues.
“I expect it to get tougher,” Mrs. Mack said. “I hope so. I don’t mind a good challenge.”
Mrs. Mack explained that she’s missed out on some of the more intense events in the office so far, such as upset parents.
Mrs. Mack said that she’s been enjoying her time in the Attendance Office so far.
“[I’ve] loved it, it’s been absolutely a blast,” said Mrs. Mack.
Mrs. Mack continued saying that working at the MV Attendance Office has been a lot more pleasant than jobs she’s had in the past.
“There’s always something going on [at MV], I like it,” explained Mrs. Mack.
